Derian House Children’s Hospice is a vital source of support for families with very poorly children. Accommodation is provided for any family members wishing to stay with their child at Derian. However Derian House is unique in that it allows parents and carers to leave children in the expert care of the staff for a few days. This means that very tired families can have a complete and much needed break from the responsibility of providing round the clock physical care for their sick children. Children are looked after properly, and with affection and compassion, for we have witnessed these things, and our hearts are filled with gratitude.

Nicholas was a regular visitor to Derian House, where he received 1 – 1 support in a pleasant caring and very happy environment. The facilities are excellent. Nick benefitted from sensory stimulation in the well-equipped sensory room. There is a jacuzzi and hydro-pool, both comfortably warm. Nicholas was able to move more freely in the water. When he was well Nick loved furry animals, and he was encouraged to stroke hand-over-hand the gentle adorable rabbit called Bugsy, and also Jess the friendly dog in the pet therapy sessions.
